The HydraFacial is a non-invasive and non-irritating treatment that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection. Because the HydraFacial is a deep cleansing treatment, it is important to avoid harsh products and other elements that can cause sensitivity. Here are some of our tips on how to best care for your skin after getting your HydraFacial treatment:
Skin Care Routine:
Only wash your face the following morning of your treatment with one of the facial washes recommended from our providers. Some over the counter washes can cause damage to your skin after a HydraFacial. We recommend avoiding the following skin care products for at least 48 hours after your treatment: Retin-A, Glycolic acid or enzymes, over-the-counter acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.
Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure:
Your skin has just undergone a deep cleanse which can make it more sensitive to the sun. We recommend to limit your sun exposure and the use of artificial tanning beds for at least 72 hours after treatment. You should also apply a non-tinted SPF 30 or greater sunscreen daily, 3-5 days after treatment.
Avoid Heat:
Extra heat from showers, saunas or intense cardio can be harsh to the exfoliated skin. Avoid activities that cause excess heat or sweating for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
Refrain from Waxing and Lasing Treatments:
Waxing exfoliates the skin, and your skin has already undergone a deep cleanse and exfoliation from your treatment. To avoid over exfoliating, it recommended to wait at least 48 hours before going for a hair removal session on your face.
